I did a lot of searching for a personal trainer before finding Shawn. I checked out several training places in the area and explored numerous websites. I found Shawn’s website very professional, instructional and informative. Prior to finding Shawn I’d been very preoccupied the previous 8 years with some family health problems, raising 2 beautiful daughters and being CEO of a large healthcare company. Like a lot of people I’d paid a lot of attention to everything else in my life and not enough attention to my personal health needs and my fitness and nutrition needs.
About 12 months ago I met Shawn and decided to make a very serious commitment to working out with her and changing a lot of nutrition habits and creating some goals about fitness and getting back in good physical shape. I work out with her 3 times a week and it has been an incredibly fun, tough, challenging and often hilarious 12 month experience, however, like anything else in life, hard work and follow through produces very good results.
I have lost almost 70 pounds, my weight has gone from 302lbs to 234lbs; my body fat has gone from 39% to 25.5%( I have a goal to get it to about 20% by summer); I have lost several inches from everywhere and especially in my waist (from 46” to currently 36.5”). My resting pulse has gone from 82 to about 69; I’ve gone from being able to do 6 girl push ups when we started working out to doing 45 or 50 men’s push ups. My occasional lower back problem has virtually disappeared; my cardiovascular endurance has increased 4 fold. My flexibility (which Shawn is very adamant about incorporating stretching into workouts) is as good as it was 25 years ago. My leg and upper body strength is remarkable and Shawn’s constant emphasis on Core, Core, Core has started to produce a real live 2/3/4 pack in my gut area.
Shawn has done a great job with a very tough client, whenever I start to whine she politely reminds me that this was my idea. She keeps me very motivated and constantly pushes me to build on and improve the process and results we’ve achieved and seen. One of the most important elements Shawn has helped me with is doing exercises correctly. We’ve also seen the ‘’overnight’’ trainer gurus who put you through the paces in 19 minutes or less and the normal outcome is an unusually painful sore body hangover, and in some cases with longer term adverse affects. Shawn takes the time to not only show you proper form, but to show you how to do it right for future reference or whenever you’re working out on your own.
She’s become a good buddy and I respect her a great deal. She’s very focused on positive and long lasting outcomes for her clients and does everything possible to give you the benefit of her 20 plus years of personal training experience. Another element for me was Shawn’s background and her formal Fitness & Exercise education and certifications, she’s a true professional and takes her professional responsibility very seriously, which meant to me she would take my fitness goals and needs equally serious.
I’ve been very pleased with the progress and changes I’ve been able to make with Shawn so far, and very impressed with her personal one on one approach helping me achieve the first phase of my goals.
